In the first heavyweight unification title fight since 1999 Wladimir Klitschko squares off against Sultan Ibragimov.
Many believe that Wladimir Klitschko has all the athletic skills needed to dominate the heavyweight division. He’tall, has an excellent left jab and can be devestating when he connects with his right cross.
Last July the IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko easily retained his crown by repeatedly landing his left hand shots off of Lamon Brewster’s head until his corner threw in the towel after six rounds.
Sultan Ibragimov is often described as a semi-awkward southpaw, who can cause any fighter great problems. In truth it’s been a while since anybody really tested Klitschko and Ibragimov could be the one that does so.
In October Ibragimov scored a commanding 12 round unanimous decision over former four-time titleholder Evander Holyfield. The 44-year-old American struggled to cope with Ibragimov’s ability to land the harder and cleaner punches. The three judges all gave the nod to the Russian champion by an overwhelming margin.
Many feel that this is an open bout with both fighters having weakness that could be exploited. Wladimir Klitschko sometimes appears to run out of gas after the fourth round,Ibragimov is yet to truley be tested by quality in form opposition.
