West Ham enjoyed a Saturday afternoon rest after they had been knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester City.
In their last league match, they once again faced Man City and contested a 1-1 draw after City’s Darius Vassell cancelled out Carlton Cole’s spectacular opener to extend Manchester City’s unbeaten league record at Eastlands this season.
With Dean Ashton injured and Henri Camara on international duty, Louis Boa Morte is likely to partner Carlton Cole upfront. Matthew Upson and Anton Ferdinand are set to partner each other at the back, despite Danny Gabbiddon’s return to fitness.
On Saturday Liverpool had to come from behind twice to beat lowly Havant & Waterlooville and reach the FA Cup fifth round.
Despite being inconsistent latley, Liverpool are in sixth place and only two points behind Everton in fourth place in the league.
The Reds have drawn their last four Premier League games, and needed a stoppage time winner to beat Derby County in their last league win, back on Boxing Day.
Liverpool will be without Andriy Voronin, who faces six weeks on the sidelines following confirmation that he needs an operation to repair ligament damage.
