Manchester City midfield duo Elano and Dietmar Hamann are set to be recalled after being rested in the last match, Michael Johnson will again miss out because of a groin injury.
Man City have had a great season so far and currently sit in fith place in the league table, just one point behind Liverpool.
Liverpool needed a late winner from who else but Steven Gerrard to secure three points away at Derby on boxing day.
Liverpool have a few injury worries, centre-back Daniel Agger may be rushed back as Sami Hyypia is a doubt with an ankle injury.
With City having the best home record in the league this season and Liverpool having one of the best records on their travels, this could be an interesting clash.
