Liverpool have had a difficult week with striker Peter Crouch criticising the club’s form after seeing his team fall away from the league leaders. On top of that, captain Steven Gerrard has commented that the speculation over the club’s ownership and the future of manager Rafa Benitez is affecting the players on the pitch.
In the third round of the cup, Liverpool needed a replay to get past Luton Town. After a draw at Luton, Liverpool recorded a 5-0 victory, thanks to a Gerrard hat trick and goals from Babel and Hyypia.

Havant and Waterlooville upset League One leaders Swansea City in the last round, with a shock 4-2 victory in the replay.
Havant and Waterlooville’s build up to the match has been centred around full-back Justin Gregory’s suspension. Having collected five yellow cards, he triggerd an automatic suspension meaning that he will miss this game. However, a re-scheduled fixture against Thurrock raised questions over wether or not that suspension would be applicable for that game instead.
The masterplan though was ruined when a floodlight failed for a second time at Thurrock’s Ship Lane ground forcing the referee to call off the match.
