With second choice Cudicini possibly being ruled out with a rib injury., Hilario may be in line for his first start since January.
Captain John Terry and striker Didier Drogba are already out because of injury, Ricardo Cavalho is likely to partner Alex and centre back, Andrei Shevchenko is likely to start the game up front.
In their last match Aston Villa fought out a dull stalemate with Manchester City at Villa Park.
On another day his side may have been awarded a winner, when Agbonlahor bundled Ashley Young’s corner towards goal, Elano appeared to save Man City, but the Aston Villa players thought the ball had crossed the line. Television replays proved inconclusive.
Manager Martin O’Neil will be looking for John Carew to produce a performance once again if the Villa are to collect anything from this match.
