Brian Adams Found Dead

Posted on August 19, 2007

On August 13, 2007, Brian Adams, better known to the wrestling world as Crush was unconscious in bed and not breathing by his wife. The paramedics could not revive Adams and was pronounced dead of an undetermined cause. A Police note has stated that “there were no visible signs of injury”.

Bryan Adams was born on April 14, 1964 in Kona, Hawaii and was introduced to many of his wrestling fans in 1990 as Crush, the third member of a popular tag team known as Demolition in the then WWF (now WWE).
Whilst a member of the Demolition team, he competed against the likes of The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart) and The Road Warriors (Animal and Hawk).

After Wrestlemania in 1991, Crush left the federation and rejoined Pacific Northwest Wrestling (PNW) for a short spell before rejoining in 1992.

Upon his return to the WWF, Adams used the name Crush in the first of his many gimmicks using that name as a solo competitor.

The first, a surfing Hawaiian occasionally referred to as Kona Crush.  As the babyface (fans favourite) he competed against his former tag team partner Barry Darsow (formerly known as Smash, but competing as Repo Man) and a well received feud with Doink the Clown.

In 1993, Adams was written out of the storylines to recover from injury, upon his return he turned on his on screen friend Randy Savage as in kayfabe he had failed to contact him during his absence. With his heel turn, Adams adopted a “Japanese Sympathizer” gimmick and was aligned with Yokozuna and Mr. Fuji.

In March 1995, Brian was arrested and later jailed for purchasing steroids and owning an illegal stun gun.  After his release from jail, Brian Adams would re-appear on WWF television with Clarence Mason (who was portraying a lawyer), before joining the Nation Of Domination, led by Ron Simmons (Faarooq).

In a gang wars style storyline, Brian Adams found himself removed from the Nation of Domination and later joined a biker gang stable called the Disciples of Apocalypse. Brian Adams was released in 1997 at his own wish due to his objection of the Bret Hart incident, known as the Montreal Screwjob.

In 1998, Brian Adams joined WCW and competed as a member of the nWo as Brian Adams, but was limited to lower card matches and often competed in tag teams with the likes of Scott Norton and Stevie Ray.
Brian Adams did compete once as the Demon, a gimmick heavily based around Gene Simmons of the band KISS. The gimmick was resumed by Dale Torborg and Adams would form a new tag team with Bryan Clarke (formerly known as Adam Bomb and Wrath), known as Kronik.

Kronik were well received by the WCW fans and were likened to the WWF’s Acolytes (Bradshaw and Faarooq) and won WCW World Tag Team Championship on two occasions.

When the WWF purchased WCW, Kronik were also signed and feuded with Kane and The Undertaker, their stint didn’t last long and Adams and Clarke were shortly released from their contracts.

After being released from their WWF contracts Adams, alongside Clarke would compete for  the touring World Wrestling All-Stars in 2002, before competing in Japan.

In 2002 Brian Adams decided to pursue a boxing career and had been scheduled to compete against Rick Zufal in November of that year. Due to a shoulder injury, Brian Adams was unable to compete and would later return to wrestling.

In 2003 Brian Adams competed in his last wrestling match in Japan against Rey Mysterio, where he suffered a career ending spinal injury.

Following his retirement, Adams worked as a bodyguard for longtime friend Randy Savage, whilst he promoted his rap CD “Be a Man”.

Over the years Brian Adams earned many fans for his contribution to the wrestling world, he  will be missed.
